Mother's Day Weekend

This past weekend felt pretty busy but at the same time I feel like I should have gotten a lot more done. That happens quite often.
Friday we went up to Logan and hung out with some good friends-Jordan and Kylie
Jesse and Jordan talked about business while Kylie and I talked about Nursing! ha
We wanted to go to a Logan original..
We went up to Logan to do some work on our car. Saturday morning we took it in for a tune up. We figured it would take a good 3-4 hours. (which ended up taking over 6 hours in the end..) I really wanted to get a new shirt for summer so we went to the DI then Ross, TJMaxx, DownEast, then the mall...and I got Nothing! pretty pathetic waste of time. Either I am too cheap or their really was nothing worth the money to buy. bummer. Better luck next time. Jesse said it could be a sign that I shouldn't buy anything and we should save??..but he was a good sport to go everywhere with me. (since we had nothing else to do ;) )
But we did enjoy the nice weather on Saturday and hit up the golf course also while waiting for our car.
That wasn't a waste of time! :)

Saturday night BBQ at the Jensen's! We ate alot..like always! But hopefully that will change. As the Jensen's we are starting our own Biggest Loser this week and it will go till August when we go to Lake Powell. I am hoping this will motivate us to eat better, exercise more and lose weight! Thanks Dallin and Megan for the great idea! And on that note..I signed myself up today to run my first marathon. Top of Utah in Logan this fall. Call me crazy-Let's hope this training does me well.

Macie, my niece, has been so fun to play with lately. She is so cute! She is at that age when she says and does the funniest things! She is getting so big. And I can't believe we will have another nephew here real soon! :)

Sunday was at my Mama's! and I forgot to get a picture with her on Mother's day!

She is great! Like a best friend. I talk to her about everything..and maybe too much sometimes! but I sure do love her so much!

Graduation, Easter, Family!

I really did graduate..This picture is the proof for now since you don't get your diploma for a while. Lovely purple cap and gown I must say.
Thanks for all the support and love!
This is a graduation gift! :) Love! But still need to learn and play around with it to figure out  how to use all the more complicated stuff. THANK YOU!!!
So yes, SCHOOL'S OUT FOR SUMMER!
and I am lovin it! I have plenty to do to keep me busy for a while..even though I get distracted just relaxing and doing whatever I want. I do still need to study for boards but I think I can take a break for a while.
This past week has been great with Easter and all. We have been able to spend time with family! We had a BBQ after my graduation and played games and dyed more easter eggs. We were able to go visit Grandpa and Grandma Eddy after I went and saw Candace race on Saturday at BYU-she won her race 1500 M! That's my girl! well sister! :) I am trying to start running again (and possibly train for a marathon??..) but I like to take each mile nice and slow! Sunday morning breakfast at the Orams...then Dinner with the Jensen's and Grandpa and Grandma Haws. We were also able to go out to Plain City and visit Grandma and Grandma Jensen! We are so blessed to be able to see all our family and spend time with them!
Love dyeing Easter eggs, I was accused of dyeing too many of them! :)
Blue lips from the Easter Candy!
I think this picture is classic..kinda showing how both their momma's personalities are..
I love my nephews!
Easter Morning!
Elijah in his Sunday Easter outfit!

Isn't he so cute! I had to chase him around the house to get pictures of him. But he liked the attention. He is so fun to be around-and hopefully this summer I get to spend more time with him-since he lives just a couple houses down from us! Then starting in the fall I get to play with little Maxwell up in Logan more often when we live there!

Last but not least. Another one of Jesse's Beauties! I must say he is pretty talented to be able to make that from our box of random pieces of legos we inherited from the storage unit!

Graduating?!

I don't know if I can believe it! This whole time-well the last 2 years in the nursing program just seemed like I would never be here. Each semester was so exhausting and hard. but YAH! I am officially done with the RN program and it is such a relief! I don't know if I would do it again. I enjoy nursing, but the last 2 years of school have been rough!

Now the huge debate....
I got accepted to the Bachelors Nursing Program at Weber...I don't know if I should do it or not?
Their are people pushing me both ways. I don't know what I should do!? :S
  • We are moving up to logan, but this program only requires me to meet every 3rd week-and sometimes I hear I can do an online assignment instead. There are plenty of people who live in Logan and commute down that are in the program right now.
  • Jesse will be way busy with school, so me being in school will keep me busy as well so I don't distract him..but it also means I might not be able to work as much-which I would be the source of most the income for us while Jesse is going to school. But most people in the Bachelors program still work full time.
  • My main thing in life is going to be a full time mommy (no I am not pregnant right now) and I am going to be a part time nurse. I will work full time till we have kids but after that just as needed. So Jesse says my nursing in like a back up plan-only if needed. But of course I have to keep up my license and work every now and then.
  • As of right now you are required to have your bachelors for any management position-which I will most likely not be doing. But they do say a lot of hospitals are requiring it and that is where the future of nursing is going. I would hate to have to go back later in life and get it when I have kids. If I am going to get it I might as well now. So its now or never.
  • This program allows you to take a break as long as you get in done within 5 years...
  • It would be easier to get a job having your bachelors but I am almost positive their will always be open RN jobs I just have to accept that they might not be my first choice.
  • More education never hurts..it will only make me a better nurse
  • Being completely done with school sounds delightful!

Decisions, Decisions! I hate having to make decisions!
I will pray and hope for a clear answer!

Sports and Crafts

The closer it gets to graduation the more I think I am already done with school. I need to focus and study for my 3 tests I have this week. THEN I will be done! I love the warmer weather which is partly the reason why I am just making myself think that I am done with school.
On Wednesday, it was a beautiful warm day..until that night when we went to the Real soccer game-I love soccer..everyone knows that!-so I was excited to go to the game. I am glad that I stopped by my sister's house right before we left because it was brought to my realization that I did not bring warm enough clothes and my sister let me borrow her big coat-thank goodness I had that! It rained the whole game. Jesse blocked most of the rain so he was the one that got pretty wet. We went with Jesse's sister Megan and Dallin, and Dallin's brothers. They decided to leave just a few minutes early the score was 0-0. Sadly to say right after they left Real scores an awesome goal-and they miss the most exciting part of the game!
Our seats were right behind the stand where they made the cinnamon roasted almonds and I had to smell them the whole game! They smelt SO good! (But they are ridiculously priced) The next day I decided to try to make them. They tasted pretty good but I swear no matter what they can never taste the same as the ones you can get at games or the fair or wherever.
Back to enjoying the nice weather...Jesse and I went and played tennis and softball together on friday. Jesse is quite well rounded when it comes to sports. I swear he can play anything. But that is something I like about him of course. We enjoy playing any sports together but he just has to teach me alot. We also went through the storage unit with my Mom on Saturday and busted out the roller blades.
wow! we are good lookin..ha!

I also got excited to dye some Easter eggs. I found a different way to do it and Jesse was great to help me out and hopefully somewhat enjoyed it as well. They turned out pretty cool I think..

But Jesse probably had more fun making this little guy! The Legos are from the storage unit as well. It brought back good childhood memories for him!

One step closer.

MY PRECEPTING IS OVER!! :)
One step closer to being a Registered Nurse.
A couple more weeks of school, a lot more studying for the boards-and passing, and then I am completely done!
Precepting for a nurse is kinda like a doctor doing his residency
I guess is the best way to explain it.
It's 135 hours at the hospital.
which is PLENTY.
Working for free...
But it's learning and getting experience.
Waking up at 3 or 4 in the morning at least 3 times a week.
Being exhausted. That is what is it.
Sleeping in sounds delightful!-and I will take advantage of it when I can.
Being a nurse can be quite stressful.
I enjoyed it but it is such a relief to be done.
I'm ready to spend more time with Jesse!
No more feeling like I am neglecting him and our home.
I graduate from Weber State's Nursing program April 22!

Zions! :)

We had so much fun in Zions! We are happy we decided to go there for our one year anniversary/spring break! And we are thinking of making a National Park/Camping trip at least an annual thing that we do! Anyone that wants to join us in the future, you are more than welcome! The weather could not have been better. Perfect for hiking! I actually got a little sun burned! It made me that much more excited for summer to come!
We camped out in our new tent we got for christmas. It is a backpacking tent, it was perfect size for the two of us. The next two nights we stayed at a cabin right outside Zions at a place called Ponderosa Ranch. It was cute little cabin and nice to be able to shower! :)
We loved all the hikes we went on. So pretty! That was Jesse's first time to Zions!
We actually were good at taking pictures this trip and I didn't know which ones to pick and choose to share so I decided to make a little slideshow video to enjoy instead..on a little movie kick I guess.
We also enjoyed the top tier of our wedding cake that has been sitting in our freezer for the past year. Jesse would say "It was well worth the wait!" It was delightful! Surprisingly way delicious still! Wish I had more!

Murder in the dark?...what?!

Murder in Kaysville? What? This can't be true? But it sure is, go watch the news!
Jesse and I were leaving our neighborhood and right around the corner from our house their was a cop car..and another one down the street..and another..and many many more in the Farr West Motel area.
Don't quite know the details yet but we sure are sleeping with the gun in the room tonight!

One Year! :)

On March 13th, this coming Sunday, as you have heard, is our First Year Anniversary
We will be away celebrating down in Zions! :)
I thought I would share our wedding video.
Here is our Temple ground footage. Yes it was a very snowy cold day but as I have said before we learned it was confetti from Heaven-celebrating with us!
(sorry the quality kind of got lost when downloading it)
Well I accidently downloaded this video first and figured why not keep it on here as well because it has some of our reception in the second half of it but also some of the same footage as above.

Dead Poacher..

Tonight we learned two lessons:
1. Do not have me attempt to make dinner after having to wake up a 3am and being at the hospital for 14 hours. (First day of precepting)
2. This is what an Egg poacher looks like when you forget to put water in the pan.
Eggs and pan completely destroyed--oops! I guess its just toast for dinner!

A foot massage would be nice about now so I can prepare myself for another round of this precepting stuff tomorrow! (I swear I am a better cook than this)

Here's a picture of me "landing" the barrel role from the previous post. Also, a combined picture of the take-off, the roll, and the landing.

Lonely Friday

Test 1-2. Test 1-2. Hello? Hello? Is this thing on?

I hope everyone can hear me. This is Jesse checking in tonight. Yes, this is my first blog post. I'm sitting at home on a Friday night all alone. Takes me back to high school... Anyways, Marissa is working tonight and I figured write a little something and just let the world know how I'm doing. Things are, quite frankly, going great. Our big one-year mark as a married couple is coming up. I can't believe it's already been a year. Marissa can't believe it's only been a year.  She's the best! We're doing pretty good though. I'm still working in Salt Lake. Marissa is still keeping very busy with work and school. Next weekend we'll take a little break from both work and school and head south for a few days. We've planned a little camping/hiking trip to Zions National Park and I'm super excited. I've never been there and am really looking forward to some time in the great out doors. Did I mention I hate winter for that very reason? No outside time. I'm glad I married someone who loves being outside as much as me. Hopefully we'll have a few pictures and stories of our adventure for the next blog post. Until then, adios.

-besitos.

Jesse

p.s. Here's a picture of me on a tube hitting a jump and attempting a barrel role four years ago. Enjoy.

Sprained ankle=money

The past little while I have been playing indoor soccer almost every week.
I am currently not on a team because our last session just ended-
and with me starting my precepting (40 hours a week at the hospital)
and having my jobs and school I just thought I most likely will not have time or I will be exhausted.
I LOVE playing soccer! And Jesse is good about supporting me and coming to my games! :)
Last night I was invited to come play indoor soccer with some good friends. I was reminded about how a few weeks ago I sprained my ankle. My ankles are pretty weak now because all the injuries growing up.
But something good came out of it this time.
A little thing called
Sprained ankle=$200
I had to put cream on my ankle 4 times a day. Go in for a couple check ups within a week.
And received $200 for it.
I wouldn't reccommend spraining your ankle for a little extra cash but definitely a bonus for not being able to play.
The money will probably go towards our cars. Gotta love car repairs. Or a can say it is going towards out little get-a-way for spring break/our anniversary. That probably sounds better!

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::Dallin and Megan Thatcher::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Dallin and Megan got married this last Saturday February 26, 2011 in the Salt Lake Temple!
We had a good time at the wedding dinner, ceremony, and reception!
We are happy for them and hope to spend more time doing things together!
The reception was fun, it was like a carnival as most people would say.
Megan did an awesome job with making most of the decorations!
Ice cream, cupcakes, eclairs, cotton candy, popcorn, and an assortment of candy!
We love you both!
I only took 3 pictures the whole time, so I will share what I have!

Speeding?

3rd time in my life getting pulled over yesterday.
I was speeding..it's one of the roads that are very hard to go 25 mph on.
Thank You police man for just giving me a verbal warning!
My last ticket cost me nearly $300! But it was Jesse's fault! ;)
How long do tickets stay on your record?
Yes I will pay more attention to how fast I am driving.
I feel like I really have seen a lot of cops out lately,
and a lot of people being pulled over.
Be careful!

First Night Away

Last night was our first night away from each other since we have married...and I did not like it. :(

Two reason what made it even harder and worse to spend the night away from each other:

1. It had to follow the day after Valentine's Day.

We had a wonderful day! After a long day at school and work Jesse surprised me with making reservations for dinner to Market Street Grill, had flowers for me-he had the same florist that did our flowers for our wedding make a beautiful bouquet-a thought that was neat-, and he made chocolate covered strawberries for me (delicious!) He made me feel like a Queen! :)
2. I had to spend two days up in Evanston, Wyoming at the State Psych hospital!

From the moment I got on the hospital grounds I just had a creepy/eery feeling.
The old buildings and unique staff did not help that.
I spent the two days basically hanging out with all the psych patients, going to their groups with them and just learning about their lives and "trials" (best word I think I can use for it right now) they have to go through. quite sad. It definitely makes you grateful for your life and health-never take that for granted!

I am definitely happy to be home and able to sleep in our home with Jesse tonight! I hope we don't have to spend too many more nights away from each other. I know a lot of married couples can say they have spent countless night away from each other-but I hope it does not have to be that way. I enjoy and appreciate being with Jesse at night!..and all the time! :) Did I ever mention being married is the best!? :)

Crafty?...

This last Saturday Jesse and I can admit we were bored and didn't know what to do.

I am not a creative or crafty person-I could always rely on my sisters or someone else.

(and their is probably a good reason why)

I attempted to make a valentines day craft.

I would say it looks quite cheesy.

But it my first attempt to do a craft alone-(without someone making me)
I have been wanting something to hang my necklaces on for a while
-because I hate when they get all tangled up-

So while I did my lovely craft, Jesse decided to be the handy man and make this for me!
Drilled holes, glued it together, and painted it!
(cost about $3)
But I must say Jesse's tie collection looks even better!
( and thats not even all of them)
Yes, He loves ties! and he sure does look good in all of them!

National Carrot Cake Day

Yes, February 3 is National Carrot Cake day!

And I decided to celebrate it! And I am pretty sure Jesse didn't mind! Or my Mom and sister

who came over to enjoy the cake!

-Well anything I can find to distract me from studying for a test...I can do assignments for school but when it comes to studying for test I have THE hardest time!-

Go ahead, go google it! National Carrot Cake day.

Today is the starting of the Chinese New Year of the Rabbit as well.

Carrot cake of course has carrots in it which are good for you...I just wish that made the cake healthy.

So maybe its not a huge holiday but its a good reason to celebrate something today!
I wanted to decorate it a little bit to make it look nice.
When Jesse came home I told him I wish I could of made cool carrots. Thanks to Jesse and his artistic skills (and maybe his love for watching the food channel) he did the carrots to make the cake look even better! :)

Tomorrow I am hoping to make homemade soup. Yes tomorrow is National homemade soup day! (Trust me I won't keep this up, its just fun for now.)
