summer is gettin busy

I feel like I have been quite busy lately...but at the same time I haven't really had that much. I think with family in town and projects I have been working on...such as painting an entertainment center (which has taken me way longer than it should) Well, I might as well say a little something about this entertainment center. It was Jesse's parents but they were getting rid of it and Jesse wanted it. I don't care for the old oak colored furniture (which is why I want to redo my kitchen cabinets..but probably wont happen...probably meaning Jesse I think is a for sure no on that ha!)
Anyways I have never painted furniture before and thought I would give it a try-I like to try new things out..broaden my skills. ha Jesse wasn't to thrilled about the idea but knew I wanted to so allowed it. I read different peoples suggestions on the internet and tried to do my homework so I didn't ruin this entertainment center by painting it. So long non sense short..I learned basically two things. 1. Even though they say to do light coats...there is such thing as too light of coats-which then your just wasting your time and making it take much longer than it needs to. (like 4 coats only looking like you maybe did one..and this entertainment center is not small) and 2. Just use a paint spray gun. Much much faster and more efficient. Don't have one I would say borrow or rent. I should have used the spray gun from the beginning and I would have had a lot more nap times doing something better with my time. ha! you live and learn I guess.
Anyways back to feeling busy..so I also decided to paint the downstairs because it was an awful light yellow/light greenish color....and I am still working on that a week later...yeah I am beginning to figure out why Jesse doesn't care for me to do projects. They take me a lot longer than they should...did I mention that the entertainment center is not quite put back together...oh man..
Also yard work is never ending..or I should say just owning a home in itself I feel like can make you busy with cleaning and projects and things to fix. But I am beginning to know that my backyard might just always be full of weeds and there is not much I can do about it...and our grass might be dead no matter how much we try to take care of it and water it....by the way don't ever try to rake your yard with a hand rake..its worth just renting a power rake-but then again our grass is still dead?? I think I might be finally agreeing with Jesse that hiring someone to do yard work could be worth it. ha? Even though I don't mind it..I just don't find the all the time needed for it.
On to the more exciting things that have kept us a little busier and that is that family was in town this last week or so. Jeff and Ali-and Quinn and Ella-who now live in Nebraska came to visit for a while before school starts up again for Jeff. We were able to get out a lot and do fun things together like going to the aquarium, boondocks, Cherry Hill, Chuckie Cheese, BBQ and swimming, shopping, taking family pictures, had Matt's (Jesse's Brother) Eagle Scout Court of Honor, and just hanging out all together! We all sure love when they are here! ( I wasn't the greatest at taking pictures though while they were here...most just of Corbin, wish I would have gotten them all together more)
otters at the Aquarium

swimmin in our backyard..payed a $1 for that pool and I think its great for at least Corbin. ha
He loved the small merry-go-round
a little bowling
enjoying a churro
Matt receiving his Eagle Scout
Arcade rides
This past Thursday we were also able to take the razor for a quick ride up Farmington Canyon with my mom and enjoy the view. It was a bit chilly when you were on the top!

Well, I feel like June came and is gone way too fast. July is usually the same. Next week to end the month is girls camp and then Corbin and I are headed to Cali for a family reunion.

Cake Smash and One year photos

Well I stuck the pictures on facebook but I have to quickly put them on here as well so they can make it into the blog book...that hopefully I will get on cause I am getting behind...but this is my journal so I need to make sure I continue to make this into one.
Anyways I always thought the little cake smash photos are cute for one year olds...and Corbin enjoys food so I thought we could get a few cute photos of him and I am pleased with how they turned out. My sister does a great job with her little photography and I sure enjoy that she does it!
At first I don't think Corbin knew it was food when I put it in front of him but as soon as he tried just a little lick of it he knew it was the good stuff..he made the mess completely by himself. Here's a few. Pure enjoyment!
I got this cake for $4 at walmart...yeah I was pleasantly surprised and impressed actually! especially cause I called and asked if they could make one within 2 hours. :)
I wanted to try to do a little bath tub clean up shoot after but Corbin wasn't up for that idea. I think he was tired at this point and way sugared out. So even though I look like a mean mom I did not leave him in the tub too long and only got these shots showing he was pretty upset. ha but he calmed down after we were down taking photos..of course.
of course I had to get one of his cute bum!!
I tried to get a few just regular shots for his one year old photos but he just wanted to play with the toys so I wasn't going to get too upset not getting any because we are suppose to take family photos this week so hopefully I can get a few then too. But I am happy with these few we got. The faces we got are ones he pulls often! :)
totally one of his faces he gives me quite often. love it
he loves reading books right now so I happy we got this shot ..hope the love for books continues..unlike me.
being silly
Big thanks once again to my sister Courtney! If you want your pictures for cheap look up Poulsen Photography! :)

Quick trip to St. George

We decided to take a quick trip down to St. George because Jesse got Memorial Day off. We just went from Sunday to Tuesday. I have not been on a trip since I have had Corbin well besides up to Bear Lake maybe? Anyways I was in need of a little get-a-away..just to have some fun away from home.
Jesse had to work Saturday--and we did Corbin's party Saturday night-so we left Sunday morning. I must say I was really worried about how Corbin would do driving down there. I know its not way far..but he hates the car and starts to fuss within 20 minutes of being in the car if not sooner. So I was hoping that he would maybe just take a good long nap in the car...but it did not quite happen even though I thought maybe there would be a possibility if we left around nap time.. Nope. He slept 30 minutes and hated the rest of the car ride basically. But with only one stop to play at the park and eat lunch we made it to St. George-even though it wasn't the pleasant car ride...it could have been worse.
My Grandparents just recently moved down there and it was quite nice to be able to stay with them! I think they enjoyed us there as well! ;) My Grandma is so cute and spoiled us. She had us a cute little welcome sign and she even put mints under our pillows! And she made us delicious strawberry waffles for breakfast which you have to put ice cream and whipped cream on at Grandma's house! And I shouldn't just being saying Grandma is was definitely Grandpa too-all of that was probably his idea and doing right?..
Corbin enjoyed playing with Grandpa...but maybe because he allowed him to just crawl out into the street... ;)
This was a talking parrot and it would repeat what you said in a funny parrot voice...as you can tell we enjoyed it.
Anyways we mostly just wanted to relax down there and didn't plan much. We went on a little hike that we decided will be fun to go back to again when we have more kids as well. It had little pools of water once you got into the canyon that most kids would swim in. Corbin enjoyed playing in the water even though I wasn't prepared for him to get wet..oh well. It was a perfect little beautiful hike though!
My Grandparents had not been up to the Dixie rock so we did the little hike up there to look out on the city with them.
(Hopefully I will get these pictures from my Grandma soon...)
It was so nice to be able to go down to St. George and see my Grandparents and have that short little vacation and get out a bit! :) Especially now thats its summer and Jesse works a lot its nice to get that time to spend all together! :)
And of course if we stopped at that Chevron Corbin had to get his first picture on the big rocking chair! :)
